DEVENGER SPLASH BUDDIES PROGRAM
Expectations of “Big Buddies”
- Take the initiative to meet and introduce yourself to your “Little Buddies”.
- Occasionally come to practice a little early to speak with your Buddy before your workout
- Give special attention and encouragement to your Little Buddies at swim meets, for example:
- Seek them out during warm-ups to give them suggestions and encouragement
- Cheer for them during their events
- Ask them about their times
- Participate in the Splash Buddy theme for each meet (even if you are not competing in the meet yourself)
Expectations of “Little Buddies”
- Learn your Big Buddy’s name and greet them when you see them
- Ask a coach to help you find your Big Buddy if you haven't met them yet
- Stay after practice sometimes to say hi to your Big Buddy
- Encourage your Big Buddy at swim meets, for example:
- Find them before the meet to wish them luck
- Cheer for them during their events
- Ask them about their times
- Make a sign to support them
- Participate in the Splash Buddy theme for each meet (even if you are not competing in the meet yourself)
Favorite Events Form
Follow the form at the bottom and you are invited to indicate your preferred events for the current season. This is one of several factors that the coaches will use each week to decide what events you will swim. Please clearly understand that filling this out does not mean that you will swim the indicated events every week. It merely gives us an indication of what you like the most. In general, all swimmers will be expected to swim a variety of events throughout the season.
This form is for indicating your preferences for individual events. We assume that you want to be in relays too! Every swimmer will be entered into as many relays as possible.
